Shopping, Gifts and Attractions

Roseland Stores and Post Office

Now the only shop in Veryan, selling a wide range of groceries, fresh bread and vegetables, off-licence, national lottery, cards.   The present owners have modernised and extended the sales areas so that the shop and post office now offers a comprehensive service to the local community.    Contact: 01872 501204.

Looking at the way things are going in rural areas, it seems to me that if we want to keep our shop and post office (Portloe has recently closed!) we need to use it or lose it...................

Melinsey Mill

Melinsey Mill, situated deep in a valley half a mile out of Veryan on the Veryan/St Mawes road, is a medieval water mill.   Beautifully refurbished in recent years it houses a small mill museum, a country crafts shop and is a popular place for light refreshments. It has a working wheel fed by the mill pool plus plenty of scenic parking.   Sitting at tables under the trees beside the mill pool, watching the ducks and other wild-life on a sunny day is a pleasure worth experiencing.

Opening during the season from 10.00am to 5.30pm, serving morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon cream teas, all cakes and pastries are home-made.

In and around the mill can be found a selection of craftwork for sale, specialising in willow and wood, creating baskets, sculptures, garden accessories, furniture and walking sticks.   Special gifts or a unique piece of furniture can be made to order. For further information, call 01872 501049.
